        <gco:CharacterString>Time series of NO2 measurements (type:Reactive Gas) at Global Atmosphere Watch station Rigi (station type: Regional). Measurements are Continuous. The measurement interval is 1 Minute(s). The measurement method is Chemiluminescence (CL) [general] . The station is located some 300 m south-west of the upper platform of Seebodenalpbahn (cable car) on the crest of Mühlimannsegg, 600 m above Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne). In this low-alpine setting, grass-land and forest areas alternate. The small cities of Zug  (pop. 100’000 including suburbs) and Lucerne (pop. 180’000 including suburbs) are approximately 12 km away. The site became operational in 1991 as part of the Swiss National Air Pollution Monitoring network (NABEL). It is also the primary Swiss contribution to EMEP. The existing station building will be enlarged in the near future to accomodate an even more extended measurement program including PM2.5, PM1, aerosol number concentration, EC/OC, as well as continuous ammonia/ammonium measurements.</gco:CharacterString>
